Singapore

Changi Airport – So Long Singapore

Well today I leave Singapore and head to Tokyo. Singapore wasn’t somewhere I thought of going and only decided to do it because it was included in the flight deal I got. I’m happy to report it was worth the trip. For me, I think the 5 days I spent here was plenty to get a good overview of the city/country. I checked out of my hotel around 8am, walked to...

Singapore Sling

One of the last places I visited was the Raffles Hotel, home of the original Singapore Sling. Created so that women could be allowed to drink in public, the famous drink got its start in the Long Bar of the hotel. Unfortunately it appears that a bunch of areas of the hotel were under renovation so I wasn’t able to enjoy the drink in that particular bar and had...

River Cruise

After making it down to Clarke Quay, I boarded a 40 minute cruise around Singapore river and the bay nearby. Not a ton to see on this cruise, but it was nice to get out on the water and enjoy a little sunshine while taking in the sights.

St Andrews Cathedral

Today is my last full day in Singapore and it turned out to be the nicest, weather-wise, that I’ve had. The sun was out all day…still 90 something percent humidity but sin nonetheless. From my hotel I took the subway towards the river to get my day started. I decided to do a small river cruise which was still a bit of a walk from the subway station...

Yunomori Onsen & Spa

About 20 minutes from my hotel I discovered a Japanese spa called an onsen. It’s basically a gender segregated spa with multiple hot and cold pools, steam and dry saunas. There’s also a common area where you can relax and also order some food. After some long days of pounding the pavement, my feet had taken a beating so I headed to the spa. Obviously I...

My Hotel Room

I’ve already mentioned the construction going on across the street but I thought I’d post a couple pictures of the room. It’s pretty basic but comfortable. There’s lots of storage and comes with a mini fridge which has been great for keeping a few breakfast items in the room.

Cloud Dome

Right next door to the Flower Dome is the Cloud Dome. The Cloud Dome is a tropical highlands amidst orchids, pitcher plants and ferns from the cool-moist Tropical Montane region. It also contains the world’s tallest indoor waterfall over 100 feet. After meandering my way around the base of the falls, I took an elevator up 6 floors and started the long spiraling...

Flower Dome

I had a bit of a slow start today due to it raining again. I tried to wait it out but ended up giving up and set out in the rain anyway. I finally had a use for the umbrella I’ve packed for this trip (and a few other trips). The Flower Dome, inside the Gardens by the Bay, is one of the most visited attractions in Singapore. The climate inside the Flower Dome is...
