Last Day in Nashville

Friday was our final day in Nashville but It was 34 degrees, so it was too hot to walk around outside. We ended up spending the day shopping in all its air conditioned glory. We ended up in the Opry Mills mall. Our final dinner was spent back on Broadway Street, which is where we started the whole trip. Broadway Street on Friday night was so much busier than a...

Downtown Memphis

We finished up at Graceland around 4ish and since downtown was only 10-15 minutes away, we decided to go take a look. We found the area similar to Broadway Street in Nashville called Beale Street. After locating some overpriced street parking, we spent a couple hours wandering around exploring the different shops. The toilet seat guitar was one of the unique finds on...

Elvis Air

Elvis purchased a 1958 Convair 880 in April 1975 and named it Lisa Marie after his daughter. He spent more than $800,000 having the jet remodeled. This customized jet features a living room, conference room, sitting room, and private bedroom, as well as gold-plated seat belts, suede chairs, leather covered tables, 24-karat gold-flecked sinks and more. And again, more...

Presley Motors

Back at the exhibition center, we toured the huge space housing many of Elvis’ vehicles. It was said he purchased over 200 vehicles in his lifetime, giving many away to friends and family.

The Backyard & The Family Grave

Here are a couple photos of the backyard property. The family grave was built in the back as a meditation garden. There was also a conspiracy theory about stealing Elvis’ body from his original grave location. Have a read: Who is buried at Graceland? Is a most asked question? Many believe that there are no bodies buried under all the headstones in the...

Mansion – Outer Buildings

The Graceland property has several buildings with lots of memorabilia on display. The record keeping was amazing. There are cheques on the wall for many of his purchases plus lots of cheques for charity. Plus his wedding outfits, house keys, paintings, gifts. So much to review! The Mansion

After a nearly one hour wait, we finally got to the mansion. After another 10 minute wait outside and a quick intro about the house by the staff, we were finally allowed in on our self-guided audio tour. Everyone was given headsets and an iPad which gave tons of detail as we walked through the house and the other buildings on the property. We could only tour the main...

Graceland – The Home of Elvis Presley

We had a very early start on Thursday morning. We were up, showered, had breakfast and on the road by 7:15am. Today we drove 3.5 hours to Memphis to the home of Elvis Presley, Graceland. After driving through sudden rain storms, cooler weather and eventually ending in hot, humid weather again, we arrived just before 11am. Graceland consists of two major areas in the...
